Techniques to Steal Cellular Phones in the center of Madrid

I have been informed about techniques to steal cellular phones in the center of Madrid. The thieves are using a technique not very known by the citizens. My friend was one of the victims of these robberies. The thieves robbed her of an iPhone. Police and employees of the establishments nearby confirmed that these robberies are a regular occurrence everyday.

The technique that these thieves use is, as follows; The thief, with a newspaper or a note in his hand approaches their targets at there tables, and lament about their poor economic situation. The thief then distract the victim by putting the newspaper or note over their belongings so that it is not visible to them anymore. In that moment the thieves steal the victims belongings, while the victim is totally unaware of what is happening. The victim only realises what has happened once he/she start looking for his/her property.

I believe there is a way of preventing these thefts, and it is mainly by informing the public. I do not wish to be an alarmist, but have to warn you of new stealing methods being used frequently by the thieves these days.

For this reason, always keep your belongings close on you and don’t leave them on the tables of any establishment.

Técnica de robo de móviles en el centro de Madrid

Me informan de que están robando móviles a clientes en los estableci- mientos de hosteleria de comida rápida, en el centro de Madrid, valiéndose de una técnica frecuente y no conocida por todos los ciudadanos. En concreto le han robado un Iphone a una amiga y la policía y empleados del establecimiento aseguran que es una constante irremediable que se repiten todos los días. Los ladrones usan un papel –donde explican las penurias de su situación personal- que van repartiendo mesa por mesa entre los clientes del local para pedir limosna y con el que los distraen. La técnica consiste en colocar el papel encima de las pertenencias del cliente de manera que queden ocultas, momento que aprovecha el ladrón para robar las pertenencias. Hay una manera de acabar con estos robos y es informando a la ciudadanía. No es cuestión de crear alarmismos pero sí de advertir de una técnica frecuente de robo desconocida por muchos, pero no exclusiva de España. Los delitos se importan y exportan de todos los países. Una amiga sudafricana me informa de que a un conocido suyo le robaron el móvil usando la misma táctica de robo que comento aquí.
